Sales results worldwide 2001 Renault and Nissan's combined automobile sales totaled 5 million

 

Renault and Nissan announced today that the two companies sold a combined 4.990 million automobiles in calendar year 2001, stable compared to last year's results, even as the world saw a slight slowdown in key automotive markets.  Nissan sold 2.6 million while the Renault group sold 2.4 million.  The Alliance's share of the world market came to more than 9.0% (4.2% for the Renault group and 4.8% for Nissan) positioning the Alliance among the world's top five leading auto manufacturers.

Included in the Alliance sales, the Renault group sold 70,648 vehicles under Renault Samsung Motors (up 472%) and 52,013 under the Dacia brand (+3.8%).  Meanwhile, Nissan sold 75,130 vehicles under the Infiniti brand in the U.S. and Canada.

On a regional basis, The Renault-Nissan Alliance sold 2,4 million vehicles in Western Europe. 826,817 of these were sold in France, 285,622 in Germany, 290,625 in Spain, 253,238 in Italy and 296,327 in the U.K. Unit sales totaled 759,972 in North America (703,308 in the U.S., 56,664 in Canada), 734,389 in Japan, 374,245 in Latin and South America (193,673 in Mexico, 71,941 in Brazil, 36,743 in Argentina) and 213,258 in Middle East and Africa.
