Nissan To Release New Forklift -- AGRES --

Tokyo - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today announced that the new forklift  "AGRES"  will be released for sale on July 9.  The AGRES is a well- balanced truck that emphasizes environmental protection, low-cost operation and original safety equipment devices to benefit its drivers.

AGRES 2.5 ton

The strongest selling points of AGRES are its low exhaust gas emissions and advanced noise reduction capabilities.

Gasoline/LPG models have Electronic Concentrated engine Controlled System engines (ECCS) in the lineup. The engines satisfy the U.S. EPA regulation (applicable from January 2004) and thoroughly reduce the emission of harmful materials such as carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons. Particularly since these engines decrease the levels of nitrogen oxide emissions by 99% compared to those of conventional models, the Nissan ECCS engines are among the cleanest industrial vehicle engines in the world.

On diesel models, 90% of black smoke emission is reduced (at engine start). AGRES provides a significant countermeasure to reduce emissions from diesel engines.

Nissan has also pursued the reduction of disturbing noise levels associated with diesel engines. The new AGRES achieved 51.7dB-A during idling, which compares to the noise level in a typical office environment.

AGRES was also designed to include a number of original safety devices for its operators.  All models are equipped with the  "Roll (Swaying) Control System,"  which produces high stability while turning.  Other safety device equipment includes a mast lock mechanism, a parking brake warning buzzer and an automatic transmission power cut-off system.

From its high quality standards and high performance levels to its red-and-silver color scheme, the AGRES is a solid representative of the Nissan brand.

The AGRES forklift was jointly developed through the partnership between Nissan and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. This model is designed for global markets, which should support the growth of Nissan's forklift business as it is launched to general overseas markets (which include Asia, Oceania and the Middle East).

*Origin of the name  "AGRES"
"AGRES"  is derived from the word  "aggressive"  because Nissan intends to work aggressively
to pursue leading-edge technology and to provide solutions to customers' forklift needs.

<Product outline>

The AGRES forklift has balanced features that should satisfy owners and operators as it addresses environmental issues.Nissan developed AGRES with three primary customer needs in mind: improving the surrounding environment, improving operating efficiency and improving operator safety.

  1. Low gas emission and noise reduction
     · Gasoline/LPG forklifts equipped with electronically controlled ECCS* engines are now in the lineup.
*ECCS: Electronic Concentrated engine Control System
      - Emission of NOx (nitrogen oxides) reduced by approximately 99%*.
      - Emission of HC (hydrocarbon) reduced by approximately 91%* in LPG trucks and by 89%* in gasoline engine trucks.
      - Emission of CO (carbon monoxide) reduced by approximately 94%* in LPG trucks and by 77%* in gasoline engine trucks.
*The numbers are relative values when former gasoline model is 100% (ISO C2 mode)
      - ECCS satisfies the U.S. EPA gas emission regulation applicable from January 2004.

       · Significantly reduced black smoke in diesel trucks.
      - Emission of black smoke at engine start is reduced by as much as 90%*.
*Comparison with former models (2.5-ton diesel trucks, in-house measured values)
      - Satisfies the U.S. EPA gas emission regulation, 2nd degree of the European Union CEN gas emission regulation,
and Japan's gas emission regulation (applicable from October 2003).

       · Disturbing noises of diesel engines significantly reduced.
      - Achieved  51.7dB-A* during idling and 71.2dB-A* while running with no load on a 2.5-ton diesel truck.
*Both numbers are in-house measured values using CEN standard.

  2. Low fuel consumption allows low-cost operation for owners
       · *VDI fuel consumption improved by as much as 17%* in the gasoline ECCS models.
      - Greatly reduced running costs.
*VDI German Standard: Measurement of fuel consumption of a certain amount of work
done in a certain duration of time.

        · Operation efficiency improved up to 4%* in the gasoline ECCS models.
       - Able get more work done while improving fuel consumption.
*Comparison with former models (1.5-ton gasoline ECCS models, in-house measured values)

  3. Original safety devices enhance operator safety
        · As standard equipment, all models are equipped with the  "Roll (Swaying) Control System,"
which produces high stability while turning.
-High reliability is achieved with a simple mechanism.
        · Three safety devices activate when the operator leaves the seat:
-Mast lock mechanism (standard for all models)
-Parking brake warning buzzer (standard for all models)
-Automatic transmission power-cut off system (standard for torque converter models)

  4. Model lineup (Total 69 models)
        · Loading capacity: 1.0 to 3.5 ton
New 2.0-ton and 3.5-ton are added to 1.0-ton and 3.0-ton series, respectively,
        for customers who seek compactness
        · New engine: Gasoline/LPG --- K15, K21, K25(ECCS /Carburetor)
                                         Diesel    --- S4L, S4L-T, S4Q2, S4S
