Nissan Primera Sedan and Wagon Undergo Minor Model Change

Tokyo -- Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced the domestic release of the Primera Sedan and Wagon following the execution of a minor model change.

Since its release in January 2001, the current generation of the Primera has won high accolades for its advanced, distinctive design combined with superb functionality as well as for its optimum balance of superior handling and ride comfort, among other notable qualities. The car has been honored with numerous awards, including the Good Design Award-Gold Prize in Japan and the Red Dot design award in Germany.

As part of the further refinements made this time, the grille, bumpers, 16" aluminum wheels and other exterior parts have been restyled to create a more refined, stellar-quality design while continuing the car's image of innovative styling. On the inside, the interior features a serene, comfortable ambience, thanks to the use of attractive chrome-plated and wood-grain finishers and the availability of a soft-looking two-tone interior color scheme of Ecru and Olive and genuine leather seats, among other optional appointments. Moreover, ride comfort and handling properties have also been improved to provide a suppler ride and enhanced stability in high-speed cruising. These refinements have been achieved by optimizing the shock absorber damping rates of the front and rear suspension, revising the rear spring constant, changing the hydraulic characteristics of the steering system and reducing friction. Appointments now available on the Primera for enhanced user convenience include a DVD-based TV/navigation system compatible with Nissan's CARWINGS telematics service and a back-view monitor. Among the many standard safety features provided on all Primera models to secure high-level safety performance are Nissan's front-seat Active Head Restraints.

Autech Japan Releases Primera Wagon Rider and Primera Enchante and Driving Helper

Autech Japan, Inc., a Nissan affiliate, today announced the continuation of the customized Primera Wagon Rider in conjunction with the minor model change of the Primera. Autech Japan has also made further refinements to the Primera Enchante and Primera Driving Helper lifecare vehicles* as a result of the minor model change executed for the base vehicles. All of these models were put on the domestic market nationwide today.

*Nissan group companies use the term lifecare vehicle (LV) to refer to vehicles that are specifically designed to assist persons with special mobility needs in their everyday lives.

Refinements were made to the Rider in line with the minor model change of the base vehicle, while continuing unchanged the interior and exterior trim features designed around the "cool and sporty" concept that has been highly popular among customers.

Primera Wagon Enchante

The Enchante models feature a swivel front passenger's seat that turns 90° toward the outside of the vehicle in a simple operation to facilitate easy ingress and egress by senior citizens and wheelchair users, among others.

Also available as a dealer-installed option is a motor-powered wheelchair lift that substantially lightens the task of loading a heavy chair into the luggage area.

The Driving Helper models are equipped with hand-operated driving controls that are mainly designed to enable persons with leg disabilities to drive.

The Primera Wagon Enchante now comes with a convenient back door strap as a standard feature to enable wheelchair users to close the back door while sitting in their chairs.

In addition, optional equipment on both the Sedan and Wagon Enchante models now includes a driver's seat assist grip for thoughtful support when transferring from a wheelchair to the driver's seat and sill protectors to prevent a wheelchair from scratching the body.
