Yokohama Marinos' HQs to Relocate to Yokohama Minato-Mirai 21

Tokyo--Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., and Yokohama Marinos Ltd., a Nissan affiliate, today announced that they would relocate the headquarters functions of Yokohama Marinos and build a new headquarters at 61 City Block in Minato-Mirai 21. Yokohama Marinos is the owner of Yokohama F · Marinos, Nissan's J-League soccer team.

61 City Block, which has a land area of 45,600 m2, is located near the Minato-Mirai 21 area where Nissan plans to relocate its own Tokyo headquarters by 2010.

The relocation of Yokohama Marinos to 61 City Block is aimed at creating a world-class soccer team by bringing together the functions of the Yokohama F · Marinos team into one single location. The functions are currently located in two separate locations in Yokohama City. The team's training facility located in Totsuka-ku, Yokohama City will also be relocated to the site.

The new headquarters will consist of a club house, four soccer grounds (two natural and two artificial grass fields), a retail outlet to sell team goods and a spectator stand where fans can watch training sessions. Construction will start in April 2005 and is expected to be completed in December 2006. The Yokohama F · Marinos will start leasing some of the new facilities from Nissan from March 2006.

Yokohama City also plans to build sports facilities centering on soccer in the adjacent area.

Yokohama City is the birthplace of Nissan and remains its registered headquarters. Nissan currently owns 18 facilities, including those of its affiliates, in Kanagawa Prefecture. The facilities include the Yokohama engine assembly plant (Yokohama City), the Oppama vehicle assembly plant (Yokosuka City) and Nissan Technical Center (Atsugi City), an R&D facility. Nissan employs about 24,000 workers in the region.

Along with the relocation of its headquarters functions to Minato-Mirai 21 in 2010 and its recent acquisition of the naming rights to International Stadium Yokohama, home to the Yokohama F · Marinos, Nissan intends to promote sports and cultural activities, as well as contribute to the regional economy in Yokohama City and Kanagawa Prefecture.
