TOKYO (Sep. 28, 2009) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for August, 2009.
- Production
Nissan's global production in August decreased 13.7% year-on-year to 217,954 units.
Production in Japan decreased 12.0% year-on-year to 73,424 units.
Production outside of Japan decreased 14.5% year-on-year to 144,530 units.
In the U.S., production decreased 31.4% year-on-year to 33,598 units.
In Mexico, production decreased 27.9% year-on-year to 33,098 units.
In the U.K., production decreased 40.8% year-on-year to 16,407 units.
In Spain, production decreased 84.2% year-on-year to 646 units.
In China, production saw a significant increase of 60.1% year-on-year to 44,441 units marking an all-time record for the month of August.
Production in other regions increased 11.4% year-on-year to 16,340 units.
- Sales
Global sales decreased 0.2% year-on-year to 299,400 units, compared to the same month last year.
Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 40,925 units in Japan, up 0.8% year-on-year. Market share was up 0.2 percentage points year-on-year to 13.3%.
In Japan, vehicle registrations in August decreased 1.4% year-on-year to 31,011 units. Nissan's share of the domestic market registrations in August was down 0.6 percentage points year-on-year to 15.6%.
Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were up 8.7% from the previous year to 9,914 units.
Sales outside of Japan decreased 0.4% year-on-year to 258,475 units.
Sales in the U.S. decreased 2.9% year-on-year to 105,312 units.
In Europe, sales decreased 13.5% year-on-year to 31,906 units.
China saw a record month in August with sales up a significant 66.6% year-on-year to 62,937 units due to continued demand for Teana, Sylphy and Tiida.
Sales in other regions were down 26.4% from the previous year to 37,994 units.
- Japan Exports
Nissan's exports in August decreased 36.3% year-on-year to 38,566 units.
Exports to North America increased 28.8% year-on-year to 25,573 units.
Exports to Europe decreased 89.8% year-on-year to 1,128 units.
