Nissan announces senior management appointments

 

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced senior management appointments as it prepares to implement its next midterm plan in the upcoming financial year. These appointments are aimed at accelerating the company’s electrification and go-to-market strategies and ensuring long-term sustainable growth.

The diverse composition of the leadership team will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s culture transformation and emphasizes flexibility, quick decision-making, and adaptability, enabling Nissan to respond effectively to market demands and changing trends.

Further, each Executive Committee (EC) member will have designations that empowers the C-suite and will streamline their area of accountability and drive customer-focused innovations.

The following senior management changes will be effective April 01, 2024, unless specified differently.

 

Executive Committee

Asako Hoshino, executive vice president (EVP) and Chairperson of MC (Management Committee) Japan-ASEAN overseeing Brand Champion, Global Marketing and Sales/Customer Experience/Aftersales, Connected Car Service, Global INFINITI, MC Japan-ASEAN, will be designated Chief Brand & Customer Officer (CBCO) and Chairperson of MC Japan-ASEAN and will continue her current areas of responsibility.

Guillaume Cartier, senior vice president (SVP), Chairperson of MC AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania); Jérémie Papin, SVP, Chairperson of MC Americas and Shohei Yamazaki, SVP, Chairperson of MC China will all retain their titles of Management Committee Chairperson (MCC) with no change in the areas of responsibility.

Ivan Espinosa, SVP for Global Product Planning & Global Program Management, Global Motor Sports BU, will be designated Chief Planning Officer (CPLO) and will expand his scope to include Corporate MI.

Kunio Nakaguro, EVP, R&D, will be titled Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and will continue his current areas of responsibility.

Hideyuki Sakamoto, EVP, Manufacturing and SCM, Purchasing, will be Chief Monozukuri Officer (CMZO) and will expand his scope to include Affiliate Companies.

Mitsuro Antoku, corporate vice president (CVP), Product Development Division No. 3 and President and CEO, NMKV Co., Ltd, will be appointed EC member and Chief Quality Officer (CQO) and will be responsible for Total Customer Satisfaction, CVAS. Successor for president and CEO, NMKV will be appointed at NMKV shareholders meeting. Noboru Tateishi, SVP, currently Chief Quality Officer, Total Customer Satisfaction, CVAS will retire as of March 31st, 2024.

Stephen Ma, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will retain the title and will continue to oversee Finance, Control, M&A, Tax & Customs, Investor Relations, Global IS/IT, and Partnership Operations & Performance.

Hideaki Watanabe, SVP, Corporate Strategy, New Mobility, Corporate Governance, Corporate Management, Board of Directors Office, will be designated Chief Strategy & Corporate Affairs Officer (CSAO) and will expand his scope to include Business Development, Sustainability, External Affairs, Corporate Partnership Development, DBIO. Joji Tagawa, currently SVP, Chief Sustainability Officer, Compliance, Corporate Service, Crisis Management and Security, Sustainability, External Affairs and IP customer business development will report to Watanabe.

Toru Ihara, SVP, Chief HR Officer, Global HR will be titled Chief HR Officer (CHRO) and will continue his current areas of responsibility and add Compliance to his scope.

 

Corporate Officers

<China>
Isao Sekiguchi, currently president ASEAN, will be promoted to CVP, managing director of Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFN). Sekiguchi will report to Yamazaki.

 

<Research & Development>
Kazuyuki Yamaguchi, currently CVP, Product Development No.2, will be appointed CVP, Product Development No.1. Yamaguchi will continue to report to Nakaguro.

Tatsuzo Tomita, currently segment chief vehicle engineer (CVE), Product Development Division No.2, will be promoted to CVP, Product Development No.2. Tomita will report to Nakaguro.

Kinichi Tanuma, currently CVP, Product Development No.1, No.4, will change his responsibility area to Product Development No.3, No.4. Tanuma will continue to report to Nakaguro.

Tetsuo Sasaki, currently vice president (VP), Connected Car and Services Engineering, will be promoted to Fellow, Electronics, Mechatronics and Electrified System. Sasaki will report to Nakaguro.

Shunichi Inamijima, currently VP, Powertrain & EV Engineering, will be promoted to CVP, Powertrain & EV Engineering. Inamijima will continue to report to Toshihiro Hirai, SVP.

 

<Corporate Functions>
Takahiko Ikushima, currently CVP, Global Controller, Regions’ Performance Control, will be promoted to SVP and will continue his current areas of responsibility. Ikushima will continue to report to Ma.

Yutaka Sanada, currently CVP, Corporate Strategy will expand scope to include Business Development and will continue to report to Watanabe.

Lavanya Wadgaonkar, currently VP, Global Communications, will be promoted to CVP, Global Communications. Wadgaonkar will report to Makoto Uchida, president and chief executive officer (CEO).

Sadayuki Hamaguchi, currently CVP, Global Communications, will be designated as Fellow, Corporate Affairs. Hamaguchi will continue to report to Uchida.

Masashi Matsuyama, currently VP, Operational Strategic Office (OSO), and president, Nissan China Investment Co., Ltd. (NCIC), will be appointed VP, China Strategy & Special Task, and will continue his role as president, NCIC. For China Strategy, Matsuyama will report to Sanada and for NCIC, he will report to Yamazaki.

 

<Manufacturing>
Mineyuki Saotome, currently region SVP, Monozukuri ASEAN, will be promoted to VP in charge of Tochigi Plant. Saotome will report to Yasuhiko Obata, SVP.

Toshio Takehara, currently GM, APW Promotion, will be promoted to VP in charge of Oppama Plant. Takehara will report to Obata.

Eiji Iguchi, currently GM, Powertrain Planning, will be promoted to VP in charge of Yokohama Plant. Iguchi will report to Obata. Tamiyo Wada, currently VP in charge of Yokohama Plant, will be appointed to a leadership position within Nissan group.

 

Retirements

Shunichi Toyomasu, currently Fellow, R&D, will retire as of March 31, 2024.

Michael Colleran, currently CVP, Marketing and Sales North America, will retire as of March 31, 2024.

Eiji Kikuchi, currently VP in charge of Tochigi Plant, will retire as of March 31, 2024.

Takuji Hisamatsu, currently VP in charge of Oppama Plant, will retire as of March 31, 2024.
