NOTES:

  1. Nissan's domestic production in August was down 7.8% to 88,523 units, the second consecutive year-on-year decrease. Overseas production in August jumped 30.4% to 106,134 units, the 13th consecutive year-on-year increase. Nissan's production volume increased year-on-year both in Americas and in Europe. As a result, Nissan's global production came to 194,657 units, up 9.7%, representing the 7th consecutive year-on-year increase.

  2. Nissan's domestic sales in August were 40,854 units, down 13.6%, representing the second year-on-year decrease. Sales were strong in August for the models including the Sunny, the Cube and the March, however, total sales were lower than the high level of August last year, due mainly to the wind-down of demand for the Cedric/Gloria and the Serena which were redesigned in late June, 1999. Nissan's domestic market share was 16.8%, down 3.4 points from the level of August, 1999. (The Bluebird Sylphy has been favorably received for its quality and advanced environmental technologies with 3,605 orders in the first week after its August 30 launch.)

  3. Nissan's exports in August rose 0.8% to 45,223 units, marking the first year-on-year increase in 2 months. This slight increase was mainly due to a double digit increase of the exports to the Asian and Oceanian market.
