YOKOHAMA, Japan (September 29, 2010) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its participation in CEATEC JAPAN 2010, an annual exhibition showcasing cutting-edge electronic and information technologies. This year's show will be October 5 to 9 at the Makuhari Messe just outside of Tokyo.

The only automaker that has participated in CEATEC annually since 2006, Nissan this year will feature a "Smart House," which adapts to the EV and the EV battery. "Solar Tree," illustrating a new way of electric management, also will be part of the Nissan exhibit.

The much-anticipated, 100% electric, zero-emission Nissan LEAF, the world's first global electric vehicle (EV), will be displayed at CEATEC as well. Nissan LEAF is the flagship for Nissan's vision of sustainable mobility. It will be available for sale in Japan and the United States beginning in December.

Kicking off CEATEC October 5 will be Nissan Executive Vice President Mitsuhiko Yamashita, who will deliver the keynote speech, "Era of the Electric Vehicle -The future society that the EV will create." Additionally, on October 6, Senior Vice President Minoru Shinohara will participate in a panel discussion on the theme, "To lead the growth of Japan through the 'Smart City'," about how Japan can lead smart growth with smart cities and discuss the environmental issues that can be solved by EV, using the Yokohama Smart City Project (YSCP) as an example.

Exhibit overview:
[Nissan Booth]

The Nissan exhibit provides a view to what's achievable for sustainable living both now and in the future.

The "Real Zone" features a Smart House powered by a solar electric system and the residents Nissan LEAF. So they're using renewable energy and participating in the zero-emissions mobility society when they drive. The display will show how Smart House works, with everything from network-connected home appliances to in-home charging for Nissan LEAF, and will provide a demonstration of Nissan LEAF.

In addition, 4R Energy Corporation, a joint venture of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Sumitomo Corporation, will exhibit an electricity storage system developed from recycled EV batteries.

In the "Future Zone," an advanced zero-emission mobility society is imagined for 2030, where more EVs populate the road. A Solar Tree illustrates the potential for solar panels that would generate and store power and offer non-contact charging for EVs, while the EPORO Robot Car travels and repowers on a non-contact charging lane. Solar Tree and EPORO demonstrate the ultimate in zero-emissions mobility powered by renewable energy.
