Nissan celebrates one million vehicle exports from Thailand

Exporting since 1999 to 115 destinations Highlights company role as hub for local, regional and global consumption Continues investment in Thailand’s automotive sector and communities

BANGKOK, Thailand – Nissan recently celebrated a significant milestone for its manufacturing operations in Thailand when it reached one million car exports to key destinations worldwide. The Nissan Terra, the all-new frame-based premium SUV, was the one-millionth vehicle to roll off a Thai assembly line for export globally.

Nissan has been exporting high quality vehicles manufactured in Thailand since 1999, with the Nissan Frontier the very first model exported, to Australia. Since then, Nissan's Thai manufacturing operations have grown to become a key manufacturing hub for Nissan in the Asia and Oceania region, producing high quality vehicles that have been driven by customers across the globe.

The Philippines, Australia and Japan were the top three export destinations by volume for Nissan in Thailand in 2018 – followed by Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Vietnam, New Zealand, Dubai and Oman.

"The export milestone underlines Thailand's importance in our Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision to making safe, smart and sustainable mobility available to as many people as possible," said Yutaka Sanada, senior vice president for Nissan in Asia and Oceania. "I am particularly excited that the Nissan Terra is the one-millionth export vehicle leaving the port. Made in and for South East Asia, the Terra has been extremely positively received from customers across the region."
