George Leondis is chief financial officer at Nissan, responsible for the company’s global financial management across finance, control, treasury, M&A, tax and customs, investor relations, and Global IS/IT.
He was appointed CFO in April 2026, and plays a central role in the execution of Re:Nissan, ensuring the company maintains financial discipline and compliance, liquidity and the allocation of resources needed to support its turnaround and long-term sustainability and growth.
Leondis joined Nissan Australia in 2004 after a decade with PricewaterhouseCoopers including three years in London, UK. His interest in Nissan was first sparked by driving his elder sister’s Datsun 180B as a teenager, which helped foster an appreciation for Nissan’s global transformation with its remarkable product and technology innovations.
Early in his Nissan career, Leondis led the establishment of the captive sales-finance business in Australia. This experience contributed to his broader perspective on the role of finance in supporting the growth of the new vehicle business and its broader ecosystem.
He has since built a career spanning more than two decades with Nissan in Australia, Japan, Europe and China in a series of regional and global finance and business leadership roles.
Leondis has developed a reputation for being able to provide both tactical and strategic advisory, combining financial rigor with a deep understanding of automotive operations. As CFO, he is focused on maintaining a strong financial foundation for Nissan, ensuring the company can support its employees, partners and stakeholders while continuing to invest in future products and technologies.
He acknowledges, embraces and cultivates a shift toward faster decision-making, greater alignment and a more open management culture, which he sees as critical to executing the company’s sustainability and growth plans.
Leondis holds qualifications in accounting, business and corporate finance from RMIT University and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
