Guillaume Cartier was appointed Nissan's chief performance officer (CPO) in December 2024. In this role, Cartier is responsible for enhancing Nissan's global performance and profitability, acting as a bridge between headquarters and regional operations, and driving the execution of the Re:Nissan recovery plan.
As CPO, Cartier closely monitors the evolution of the auto industry, ensuring that Nissan's cars maximize customer value and profitability. He is committed to fostering agility and resilience within the organization and is confident in Nissan's ability to adapt and rebound in a rapidly changing industry.
His leadership philosophy has evolved with experience, and he says it centers on prioritizing team success over individual achievement and creating an environment where people can excel together and deliver what they may have thought was impossible.
Cartier's career at Nissan, more than 30 years, spans a wide range of leadership positions in marketing, product planning, and regional strategy, and was chairperson of Nissan's Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania region from 2021 to 2025. His experience also includes a tenure leading global marketing and sales at Alliance partner Mitsubishi Motors, after which he returned to Nissan. Memorable achievements include leading the launches of Micra and the iconic R35 GT‑R in the 2000s, while he lists the Patrol SUV among his most cherished Nissans.
Cartier holds an undergraduate degree from the Ecole Supérieure des Techniques Aéronautiques et de Construction Automobiles (ESTACA) and a master's in marketing and management from the ESSEC Business School.
