Shohei Yamazaki was appointed chairperson of the management committee for Japan and ASEAN in January 2025 and, as of April, also assumed responsibility for Nissan's affiliated companies. In this role, he oversees regional performance and leads efforts to strengthen Nissan's operations across these key markets.
Since joining Nissan, Yamazaki has built a 27-year career in purchasing, where he worked closely with a broad network of partners to improve quality, supply stability and cost competitiveness. He also led global purchasing strategies in coordination with Alliance partners. Prior to his current role, he served for five years as chairperson of Nissan's operations in China and president of its joint venture, driving transformation across China operations and partnerships in a rapidly evolving market.
Drawing on these experiences, Yamazaki is focused on two priorities.
First, he places strong value on the long-term, collaborative relationships that have underpinned the global competitiveness of Japan's automotive industry. Through these partnerships, Nissan has been able to develop, build, and deliver innovative technologies, products, and services. Yamazaki is committed to strengthening these foundational advantages and elevating them further.
Second, he champions a mindset that moves beyond precedent and conventional norms, encouraging innovation and bold thinking to generate greater value for customers and partners.
Yamazaki holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Hitotsubashi University.
