Nissan Dream Classroom unveils ‘Intelligent Drive’ course in Yunnan

YUNNAN PROVINCE, China – Nissan Dream Classroom has opened at No.3 Primary School of Ludian County in Yunnan Province in China. The opening marks the 89th school where Nissan Dream Classroom curriculums are offered in the area. There will be 37,000 primary schools students attending the program.

Established in 2013, Nissan Dream Classroom was developed by Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (NCIC) to support Nissan's existing social responsibility efforts. Following the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics) education concept, it presents science and automotive knowledge to primary school students in China.

Nissan Dream Classroom in China now has six modules and consists of 17 courses that include automotive design, history, manufacturing and the environment. The program gives students a general overview of the automotive business and lets students learn while deepening their understanding of the Nissan brand.

The "Intelligent Drive" program, the sixth module of the classroom series, is a new course for Nissan Dream Classroom. The course introduces how to control a car and demonstrates one of the three pillars of Nissan Intelligent Mobility – Driving (along with Power and Integration) – in an easy-to-understand way. During hands-on sessions, a model car avoids obstacles and moves via a sensor that lets students experience the innovation of Nissan Intelligent Mobility.

Sine its inception in 2013, Nissan Dream Classroom has been held at more than 170 primary schools in nine provinces and municipalities in China including Beijing, Sichuan, Guangdong and Hubei. It has benefited up to 120,000 students (by the end of August 2018) and earned compliments from teachers, students and their parents.

Recently, Nissan Dream Classroom won CSR China Education Award, an important award in China's education sector issued by the School Division of Central Committee of Communist Youth League.

In 2018, Nissan Dream Classroom expanded into the Beijing Auto Museum, the largest auto museum in China. It is also held at some Nissan dealerships, which will become a platform to offer new activities for Chinese customers. Nissan hopes that dealerships will become a new bond to retaining consumers and contribute to improved customer loyalty and the development of future customers.

Over the past three months from June to August, a total of 2,500 families participated in Nissan Dream Classroom. In the future, NCIC will continue to cooperate with its joint ventures to achieve the goal of benefiting 1 million students by 2020.

Nissan Dream Classroom, which supports Nissan’s existing social responsibility efforts, was awarded CSR China Education Award.
