Nissan shows what’s coming next at Auto China 2020

BEIJING – Nissan's all-new Ariya crossover EV made its China debut at Auto China 2020 today, as the company announced important steps forward for the Nissan NEXT transformation plan in the market.

The Ariya is a fusion of two of Nissan's strengths: EVs and crossover SUVs. Embodying power and performance in a connected car, it represents the latest in the company's integrated, cutting-edge Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies.

The Ariya is scheduled to go on sale in China in 2021. Together with Nissan's e-POWER models, it is aimed at unveiling a new era of electrification for Nissan in the Chinese market.

Nissan plans to introduce new models and power its lineup in China with more Nissan Intelligent Mobility features. By focusing on its core strengths and customer needs, Nissan will be well positioned to continue its leadership and steady growth in China.

"Chinese customers are fast-evolving and have great enthusiasm and acceptance for advanced automotive technologies," said Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida. "For Nissan, China will play a central role as a core market. We're coming with a more exciting lineup for you."

Renewed lineup for China

Nissan plans to launch seven new models in China by 2022. The company recognizes that Chinese consumers are demanding more from products and technology every day, to enrich their lives in new ways. Nissan is ready to meet and exceed these demands by revitalizing its product portfolio to deliver compelling new models.

Expanding EVs and e-POWER

Nine models in Nissan's China lineup are to be equipped with electrified powertrains (EV or e-POWER) by 2025. Nissan knows that drivers in China are looking for reliable and exciting EV options. With the Ariya going on sale in China next year, Nissan is launching a new era of EV and mobility technology that makes no compromises between range and performance.

ProPILOT advanced driver assistance

Nissan plans for five models in its China lineup to be available with ProPILOT advanced driver assistance technology by 2022, covering 70% of Nissan's passenger models in the market. China remains a global pioneer in autonomous vehicles, as customers' desire for greater convenience and safety pushes innovation. Nissan continues to work to bring ProPILOT 2.0, the latest generation of the technology, to China to provide a safer and more exciting driving experience.

NissanConnect

Nissan's plans call for nine models in China to feature NissanConnect by 2024, covering 90% of Nissan models in the market. China is at the very forefront of connectivity, and Nissan is equipping its cars with the latest features to provide customers with a closer and more seamless connection with society.

"Nissan is a passionate, innovative challenger, and we have a strong heritage of redefining segments," said Uchida. "Years of experience in building crossovers and pioneering EVs has resulted in a great fusion – the Nissan Ariya, our first EV crossover, infused with the best of Nissan innovation."
