New Delhi (April 19, 2007) - Nissan Motor India Private Limited today announced the launch of its luxury sedan, the Teana, in India. Teana is the second model to be launched in India following the launch of the X-TRAIL SUV in 2004 and marks the next step in Nissan's expansion into this fast growing market. In March of this year, Nissan announced its intention to set up a manufacturing facility in Chennai together with Alliance partner Renault and local manufacturer, Mahindra.

Ms. Yoshie Motohiro, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, "When we decided to launch our second vehicle we wanted to take advantage of the growing luxury segment. Our research showed that the Indian customers' expectation of a luxury vehicle matches what Teana offers. We are confident that the Nissan Teana will meet the demand of the Indian customers and that the people here will love this sedan."

The vehicle will be fully imported from Nissan's Kyushu Plant in Japan and is priced at Ex Showroom price of Rs. 2,047,000- at Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad and Rs. 2,067,000- at Mumbai.

The Teana was created around the concept of "Comfort and Relaxation". Teana combines refined, modern design with a smooth, powerful V6 engine.

The Teana's powerful exterior styling starts with a front end design that blends a distinctive chrome grille, high quality headlamps and integrated fog lamps.

On the inside, Teana offers a finely crafted interior that is clean, modern yet luxurious". With broad sections of high quality wood trim, easy to operate controls and leather trim, Teana delivers on the promise of comfort and relaxation. Thanks to a long wheelbase, Teana also delivers extra comfort for all passengers.

From a safety and convenience standpoint, Teana comes with innovative and convenient features such as the intelligent lock system, which allows the owner to open and close the vehicle and start the ignition without removing the key from their pocket or bag.

Teana is powered by a 2.3 litre VQ23DE petrol engine mated to a four speed automatic transmission. The VQ23DE engine produces max power of 125kw (170ps) and torque of 224N.m (22.8kgm). Nissan's VQ23DE engine is part of the VQ engine series, which has been recognized as one of the "Ten Best Engines" by Ward's Auto World magazine for 13 years in a row.

Commenting on the introduction of Teana in India, Mr. Masaru Arimitsu, Chief Product Specialist, Nissan Motor Company Limited said "Keeping in mind the Indian road conditions, and the needs of consumers, we have made changes to the Teana's interior and exterior. The seats of the car have been changed from suede to leather, there is a visible dual exhaust pipe and the ride height has been raised by 10mm. Nissan has used its triple safety philosophy in this vehicle with information safety, control safety and impact safety factors being taken into consideration for the Indian Teana."

Mr. Neeraj Garg, Director Sales and Marketing, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd further adds "Our objective for introducing Nissan Teana in the market is to bring in choice amongst Nissan Vehicles for customers, provide a value for money option in the luxury car segment in India and support profitability for dealers."

The Teana will go on sale from this month.
