"Le Mans Vers Le Futur" (Le Mans Towards the Future) was carried out as a support event to the 2011 running of the Le Mans 24 Hours, held on June 11th and 12th. In the demonstration run held on Thursday, June 9th, former F1 driver Briton Johnny Herbert took the wheel of the Nissan LEAF NISMO RC. He drove three laps of the 13.6km track at a stable pace and later commented, "I am really honoured to be given the opportunity to drive this EV racing car with such cutting-edge technology and at this circuit with the legend of Le Mans. The car's level of perfection as a racing machine is quite high, so I'm sure we'll have competition with these types of cars in the near future."

The Nissan LEAF NISMO RC was also demonstrated just before the commencement of the 24 Hours on Saturday, June 11th. For that demonstration run, Nissan's Executive Vice President Carlos Tavares was behind the wheel. He drove the sensational machine in front of over 100,000 people crowding the Circuit de la Sarthe's main grandstand.
