日産自動車株式会社（本社：神奈川県横浜市西区、社長：内田 誠）は、7月15日と16日にイタリアのローマで開催されたABB FIAフォーミュラE世界選手権シーズン9の第13戦と第14戦に参戦しました。第14戦ではノーマン ナトーが2位に入賞し、今シーズン初の表彰台を獲得しました。第13戦ではナトーとサッシャ フェネストラズがそれぞれ7位と10位に入賞しました。

ナトーは両レースでポイントを獲得しました。第13戦はグリッドの中盤からスタートしましたが、7位まで順位を上げてフィニッシュしました。3番グリッドからスタートした第14戦では、レース序盤で2位に浮上するとそのままのペースを維持し、終盤には素晴らしいディフェンスも見せ、表彰台を獲得しました。
フェネストラズは、第13戦で3番グリッドからスタートし、レースの序盤をリードしました。しかし、赤旗中断の後に順位を下げ、最終的に10位でフィニッシュしました。第14戦は技術トラブルでピットストップを余儀なくされ、16位でフィニッシュしました。
フォーミュラEシーズン9の最終戦となる第15戦と第16戦は、7月29日と30日にロンドンで開催されます。
日産フォーミュラEのゼネラルマネージャー兼日産フォーミュラEチームのマネージングダイレクターであるトマソ ヴォルペは「今回のレースも予選から良い走りを見せることができました。決勝でチームは赤旗に阻まれたり、電気系統のトラブルに見舞われるなどの不運もありましたが、チームが一つとなり、時間との戦いのなかで懸命に努力し、今シーズン初の表彰台を獲得することができました。この結果にとても満足しています。このチームスピリットをロンドンでも発揮し、勢いをそのままに、最高の形でシーズンを締めくくりたいと思います」

「第14戦でのパフォーマンスには、とても満足しています。エネルギー残量はギリギリでしたが、うまくコントロールできました。戦略は完璧で、懸命に戦い、今シーズンのチームとしての進歩を示すことができました。両レースでポイントを獲得できて良かったです。第13戦では、力強く挽回し、トップ10フィニッシュにふさわしい走りができました。月末のロンドンに向けてプッシュし続けたいと思います」
サッシャ フェネストラズ：
「第13戦の予選では、この難しいコースを満喫できましたし、途中ではトップを走ることもできて気分が良かったです。しかし、赤旗中断の後、残りのレース時間について混乱してしまい、予想以上にエネルギーのセーブが必要となったせいで順位を落としてしまいました。第14戦では電気系統のトラブルで予選がうまくいかず、悔しい思いをしました。しかし、チームは素晴らしいリカバリーをして、決勝に向けてマシンを準備してくれました。ナトーが証明したように、今週末は良い結果を残せるポテンシャルがありました。彼が表彰台に上ったことは、本当に嬉しいですし、ロンドンでも上位で戦えるよう全力を尽くします」

About Nissan in Formula E
Nissan made its all-electric racing debut in Season 5 (2018/19) of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, becoming the first and only Japanese manufacturer to enter the series.
