GUANGZHOU, CHINA (December 21, 2011) - Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company ("Dongfeng Nissan"), the passenger vehicle business unit of Nissan's joint venture in China, today hosts the completion ceremony of the second Huadu plant.
The second plant will build Tiida Hatchback, currently produced at the first Huadu plant. Total investment in the plant is RMB 5 billion (USD786 million). The combined facilities will create the largest plant in the Nissan global production network with annual capacity of 600,000 units in 2012. In the mid term, total capacity of the Huadu plants will be expanded to 670,000 after adding the annual capacity of 270,000 units from the second facility.
The company also announced that the sales target for 2012 will be 1 million units. Helping drive these sales will be four new models, two from Nissan and two from the company's new brand, VENUCIA.
"Huadu's second plant will play a vital role in helping Dongfeng Nissan achieve sales of 1 million units," said Kimiyasu Nakamura, president of Dongfeng Motor Corporation . "We will deliver cars from the Huadu plant built to global standards for our customers."
Dongfeng Nissan's sales for 2011 are forecasted to be 800,000 units, which would exceed the company's original plan of 772,000 units. The expected increase is attributed to the success of new models, including Sunny and Tiida, increased sales of other models, expansion of the dealer network and interactive brand events across the nation which have helped drive sales. Dongfeng Nissan is focused on continuing the momentum to enrich the product lineup, expand production capacity, enhance product and service quality, and increase brand awareness to become one of the top three Chinese passenger carmakers, an objective of the company's mid-term plan.

Since the establishment of DFL, Nissan's sales volume, including both passenger and light commercial vehicles, has risen dramatically from 94,000 units in 2003 to reach more than 1.15 million in 2011. Nissan expects to sell 1.35 million vehicles for 2012.
