A sleek, bold and thoughtful design
The all-new LEAF builds upon Nissan’s Timeless Japanese Futurism design language first introduced in the Ariya. It exudes a distinctive Japanese aesthetic conveyed in a simple yet powerfully modern way.
Both the exterior and interior are adorned with a distinctive “ni-san” geometric pattern featuring a combination of two vertical rectangles positioned alongside three horizontal rectangles. Because the numbers two and three in Japanese are pronounced “ni” and “san,” the pattern phonetically creates the name Nissan. The symbol adds a sense of fresh energy that playfully speaks to a new era for Nissan design and for the LEAF, which has been completely reimagined for this third generation.

Exterior design
When crafting the all-new LEAF’s exterior, members of Nissan’s Global design Center in Atsugi, Japan, sought to create a bold design that is highly aero efficient, with sleek surfacing and futuristic “digital Zen” accents.
At the front, a sculpted bumper and fascia combine with a near seamless hood line to enhance aero efficiency.
At the side, a fastback-like silhouette smoothly transitions into a rear deck designed to improve aerodynamics with an airfoil effect. Retractable front door handles and seamlessly integrated wheel arch moldings support the ultra-flush appearance, pairing with aero-tuned wheels and a flat underbody to aid crosswind performance.
The charging port door is adorned with the new “ni-san” symbol, and in celebration of the LEAF’s Japanese DNA, the upper window-line accent running in a gentle arch from the A-pillar to the rear hatch area is inspired by the curve and precision of a katana.
The Nissan wordmark is positioned centrally across the rear liftgate. Set against a gloss black glass-like Kammtail, it delivers strong contrast to proudly accentuate the branding.
The all-new LEAF features a bold and sleek design, achieving an impressive 0.26 drag coefficient in the U.S. and Japan.3 In Europe, where select variants come with special wheel and door-mirror designs that further enhance aerodynamics, the drag coefficient is even lower at 0.25.3
Lighting
At the front, the Daylight Running Lamp (DRL) design features six rounded rectangles arranged in a tapered fashion to accentuate the V-motion color-masked fascia. The pattern creates a distinctive signature above the all-LED headlamps. On select grades, a lightbar spans the length of the hood, positioned above an illuminated Nissan brand logo.
At the rear, available 3D holographic tail lamps bring to life a memorable digital Zen element. Arranged in the ni-san pattern, the vibrant red lamps create an advanced, holograph-like effect and appear to change depth based on the viewing angle. This advanced design accent is symbolic of the all-new LEAF’s suite of innovative technologies and ensures a sense of “Nissan-ness” is recognizable at a glance.
Both the front and rear lamps are programmed to illuminate in a welcome or farewell sequence as owners approach or depart the vehicle.
Wheels
On all grades, the wheel fascia design was optimized to support aerodynamic performance while delivering bold, modern style. Depending on the region, a range of wheels is available, including 18-inch steel wheels with full covers, 18-inch alloy wheels, and 19-inch alloy wheels paired with 235/45R19 tires. The 18-inch alloy wheel design include a subtle nod to the ni-san pattern as found in the 3D holographic tail lamps.
Exterior colors
The all-new LEAF is available in eight expressive exterior color combinations. This includes a vibrant Seabreeze Blue Pearl, which is paired with a high-contrast black roof on high-grade variants.
Interior design
The all-new LEAF features a thoughtful and spacious cabin. Underpinned by Nissan’s CMF-EV platform, the interior benefits from an almost entirely flat floor. Additionally, with the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) unit located under the hood rather than behind the instrument panel, cabin space is maximized.
Nissan designers arranged the wide horizontal instrument panel such that it appears to be floating and reduced visual clutter to create a calm, minimalist ambience. The adoption of a pushbutton shifter also enhances the sense of a spacious cabin.
Carrying through from the exterior, the geometric ni-san pattern subtly appears within the cabin, including on the passenger side of the instrument panel and the outer area of the center console.

Audio and infotainment
All grades feature a monolith-style display that, depending on grade and region, has either dual 12.3-inch or dual 14.3-inch integrated screens.
Nissan’s design team carefully curated up to five selectable background themes for the screens, including a new, LEAF-unique “Engawa” design. The Japanese Engawa philosophy, which is often applied in architecture, seeks to create seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces, blurring their boundaries.
Owners can tailor the screen’s visual background theme with available ambient interior lighting, which features multicolor illumination, to perfectly match their mood and preferences.
Wireless Apple CarPlay® and wireless Android Auto™ as well as NissanConnect® Services and In-Vehicle Wi-Fi are available.
On select grades, wireless smartphone charging, up to four USB inputs and Google built-in are available.
Available Bose® Personal® Plus premium audio features 10 speakers — including front headrest-integrated speakers — providing a truly immersive audio experience.
Seating
The all-new LEAF features a NASA-inspired Zero Gravity seat structure for both the front and outboard rear seats. Rear seats also feature 60/40 split fold and outboard LATCH points.
Colors and trims
The interior offers a curated ambiance, with a blend of carefully selected materials and contrasting color accents on the instrument panel, seat base, armrests and console.
Three interior color combinations are available globally: depending on region, black with dark green accents, light gray with soft blue accents and a clean white theme featuring blue-violet accents are offered.
Depending on grade and region, the seats are trimmed in either cloth, leatherette, or TailorFit® synthetic leather upholstery.
Panoramic roof
High-grade models feature a Dimming Panoramic Roof with heat shielding. Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology allows owners to enjoy year-round comfort at the touch of a button by adjusting the glass's transparency and the amount of light entering the cabin through the movement of ions within its layered structure. Owners can adjust the roof in four different settings: full shade, front shade, rear shade and full transparency. Additionally, the panoramic roof features an infrared (IR) reflective coating that reduces sun load.
Nissan designers drew inspiration from the Japanese kasumi pattern — traditionally used in arts to depict clouds — to create the shade pattern.
Additionally, to provide owners with a sense of unexpected charm, the shadow cast by the e-dimming roof includes a small LEAF wordmark.

Cargo
Depending on the grade and selected features, the all-new LEAF models offered in the U.S. and Japan provides up to 420 liters VDA of cargo space with the rear seats upright. With a unique trunk arrangement, European models will offer 437 liters VDA. Access to the cargo space is convenient, with the availability of a motion-activated power liftgate. Selected variants also adopt roof rails, supporting the installation of accessory crossbars.
Responsive, smooth and confident EV drive
The all-new Nissan LEAF delivers a responsive, ultra-smooth drive characterized by linear power delivery that ensures comfortable performance.
The all-new, 3-in-1 EV powertrain with an integrated motor, inverter and reducer is 10% smaller than the second-generation LEAF and features Nissan’s unique motor control, which enhances refinement. Combined with the new motor, a new, high-rigidity motor-mount bracket supports a 75-percent reduction in motor vibration compared to the outgoing LEAF.
High-isolation carpet also support a whisper-quiet interior.
In select regions, newly available Intelligent Distance Control Assist helps intuitively maintain a set distance from the vehicle in front while driving in city traffic and also optimizes regenerative braking.

Models equipped with the 52kWh battery deliver 130 kW with 345 Nm torque and 75 kWh battery models offer 160 kW and 355 Nm of torque.
An enhanced thermal recovery and management system harvests heat created by the onboard charger (OBC) to warm up the battery, increasing its regeneration potential in cold weather.
Additionally, on applicable grades, a new intelligent navigation-linked thermal conditioning function optimizes battery cooling and warming based on the selected drive route. When users input a destination, the system assesses the route to determine the load, identifying scenarios like severe hills and extended freeway driving. When the load is predicted to be low, the system automatically adjusts the battery cooling mode to conserve energy.
Similarly, the navigation-linked system can provide benefits during fast charging in the summer months. When a destination is input, the system can determine if the planned route after charging involves low load, permitting a temporary adjustment in the battery’s acceptable temperature during fast charging to allow for increased charging capacity.
Range and charging
A key focus for Nissan engineers was delivering real-world range paired with a fast and easy charging experience.
In the U.S., select grades featuring the 75 kWh battery are estimated to deliver a maximum range of up to 303 miles,1 with U.S. and Canadian customers also benefiting from the convenience of a North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector allowing them to charge at compatible Tesla Supercharger locations.2
The all-new LEAF comes equipped with an onboard charger as well as a fast-charging port that supports up to 150 kW DC fast-charging capability.
When connected to a DC fast charger, owners can replenish 10-80% of their state of charge in as little as 35 minutes4
