Teiji Hirata
As Nissan's chief of monozukuri—the company's philosophy of craftsmanship and manufacturing excellence—Hirata oversees global manufacturing and supply chain operations, guiding every stage from vehicle manufacturing development to market launch.
Appointed to the role in April 2025, Hirata previously served as corporate vice president for vehicle production engineering and development. He now plays a central role in delivering the Re:Nissan transformation plan, ensuring that the company's production strategy supports long-term sustainable profitability and aligns supply with demand.
Since joining Nissan in 1991, Hirata has built a distinguished international career in production engineering, with assignments in Japan, Spain, the U.K., Mexico, and the U.S. Drawing on this global experience, he believes that bringing together people with diverse expertise strengthens the company's manufacturing capabilities. Hirata's leadership is rooted in the Nissan Way principle of "show facts, face reality," which emphasizes fact-based decision-making and operational transparency.
Among the many vehicles he has helped bring to life, one early experience stands out: the R33 Skyline GT‑R. Launched in the 1990s, the iconic model set a then-record lap time for production cars at Germany's Nürburgring Nordschleife. As a young manufacturing engineer, the project revealed the full force of Nissan's technological capabilities and global competitiveness.
He holds a degree from the School of Science and Engineering at Waseda University.
